Dear Sir or Madam,

I am delighted to invite you to attend the International Symposium "Food Systems Transformation | Research Perspectives" given by the German Science and Humanities Council, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday, 20 and 21 November 2023, in Cologne. Please note that the number of participants is limited.

In April 2023, the Council has published a position paper proposing a reorientation in the agricultural, nutritional and food sciences to take account of changed societal and global circumstances (doi.org/10.57674/a4rt-ke57). We are expecting scientists from major European scientific institutions in the field of agricultural, nutritional and food sciences as well as political decision-makers from Europe in order to discuss the topics covered by the paper. The invited external experts will focus on European and global views on the policy paper as well as challenges, targets and solutions of the implementation of systemic and transformative approaches. Results of the discussion will be used for specific recommendations on agricultural, nutritional and food sciences, the Council is currently developing.
