Application deadline: 1 April (students with an international BA) and 15
June (students with a German BA)

Program start date: 1 October

INTERDISCIPLINARY DESIGN
The MA GPE is interdisciplinary in design. Classes are taught by members
of the faculty of social sciences at the University of Kassel, mostly
from politics and sociology. A number of economics classes are also open
to GPE students.

INTERNATIONAL SCOPE
In the last years, around three-quarters of the students were
non-Germans with diverse home countries from Albania to Vietnam.
Lecturers from foreign partner universities frequently teach classes
(Universidad Estadual de Campinas in Brazil, Rutgers University Newark
in the USA, Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, Universidad
Nacional de San Martin, Argentina, and University of the Witwatersrand
in South Africa).

Students have access to a range of international exchange programs, in
addition to Erasmus, with universities in Africa, Brazil, India, and the
United States. Erasmus Scholarships are available for all students.

SCHOLARSHIPS
There are a few work-study scholarships available for students from DAC
countries. There are also scholarships available for MA candidates
conducting dissertation field research in developing countries.

PRACTICAL COMPONENT
Despite its theoretical orientation, the MA GPE includes an important
practical component. Students complete an internship of at least eight
weeks and have the opportunity to take part in field trips to cities
such as Brussels and Geneva, where they visit institutions and NGOs
operating in the field of European and global governance.

TUITION
The University of Kassel does not charge tuition fees.

of global political economy at the /International Center for Development
