DESIGN
<br>
The MA GPE is interdisciplinary in design. Classes are taught by
members of the faculty of social sciences at the University of
Kassel, mostly from politics and sociology. <span
style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>A number of economics classes
are also open to GPE students. <br>
<br>
INTERNATIONAL SCOPE <br>
In the last years, around three-quarters of the students were
non-Germans with diverse home countries from Albania to Vietnam.
Lecturers from foreign partner universities frequently teach
classes (Universidad Estadual de Campinas in Brazil, Rutgers
University Newark in the USA, Tata Institute of Social Sciences
in India, Universidad Nacional de San Martin, Argentina, and
University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa). <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ansi-language:EN-GB"
lang="EN-GB">Students have access to a range of international
exchange programs, in addition to Erasmus, with universities in
Africa, Brazil, India, and the United States. Erasmus
Scholarships are available for all students. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ansi-language:EN-GB"
lang="EN-GB"> SCHOLARSHIPS <br>
There are a few work-study scholarships available for students
from DAC countries. There are also scholarships available for MA
candidates conducting dissertation field research in developing
countries.<br>
<br>
PRACTICAL COMPONENT <br>
Despite its theoretical orientation, the MA GPE includes an
important practical component. Students complete an internship
of at least eight weeks and have the opportunity to take part in
field trips to cities such as Brussels and Geneva, where they
visit institutions and NGOs operating in the field of European
and global governance. <br>

The University of Kassel does not charge tuition fees. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

The program provides a good foundation for PhD projects. The
University of Kassel offers excellent opportunities for PhD
students in the field of global political economy at the <i
style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">International
Center for Development and Decent Work</i> (ICDD), within the
doctoral program <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Global
Social Policies and Governance</i>, or under the supervision
of a professor based in the faculty of social sciences.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
